Former B2Gold Manager to Lead Avanti’s Masisi Gold Project

Canadian mining company Avanti Gold has appointed Lan MacLean, a former manager at B2Gold, as the General Manager for their Masisi gold project in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The announcement, made on May 7, 2024, underscores Avanti’s commitment to advancing their mining endeavors in Africa.

With over 25 years of experience in the mining industry, MacLean brings a wealth of expertise to his new role. His tenure at B2Gold, where he managed operations in Mali and Namibia, positions him well to lead the development of the Masisi project.

MacLean expressed his enthusiasm for the new role, stating, “I am honored to accept the role of CEO of Avanti Gold. I look forward to working with Samuel Jonah and the rest of the Board, as well as the experienced technical team, to create shareholder value through exploration successes.”

Under MacLean’s leadership, the primary focus will be on advancing the Masisi project, with an emphasis on increasing mineral resources. Situated 250 kilometers south of Bukavu, the project boasts inferred mineral resources of 3 million ounces, signaling significant potential for growth and development in the region.
