French Delegation Explores Investment Opportunities at Kalumbila Multi-Facility Economic Zone
French Embassy Delegation Visits Kalumbila MFEZ to Explore Investment Opportunities in Zambia’s Mining Supply Chain
A high-level delegation from the Embassy of France in Zambia visited the Kalumbila Multi-Facility Economic Zone to explore investment opportunities, highlighting growing international interest in Zambia’s expanding mining and industrial supply chain.
The visit was hosted by First Quantum Minerals through its Trident Project, reinforcing the mining company’s commitment to supporting sustainable economic growth in Zambia’s North-Western Province.
Spanning more than 5,000 hectares, the Kalumbila Multi-Facility Economic Zone (MFEZ) has been developed as a regional hub for industrial, commercial, and residential activities.
The zone offers a range of fiscal incentives, established infrastructure, and strategic proximity to major mining operations in both Zambia and the neighboring Democratic Republic of the Congo, making it an attractive base for companies seeking to expand their footprint across Central and Southern Africa.
During the tour, members of the French delegation held discussions with representatives from the Kalumbila Town Development Corporation (KTDC) as well as existing investors operating within the zone.
The engagements focused on Zambia’s increasing emphasis on localisation within the mining sector, a policy direction aimed at strengthening local supply chains and encouraging partnerships with international companies capable of establishing operations within the country.
Officials were also taken on a guided tour of key infrastructure within Kalumbila, including residential housing developments, education facilities, and healthcare services.
These investments form part of a broader integrated development strategy designed to support both industrial activity and community wellbeing.
The visit underscored the growing significance of the Kalumbila MFEZ as a strategic entry point for international investors seeking access to Zambia’s mining supply chain, while also positioning the zone as a gateway to regional trade corridors connecting Zambia with neighboring mineral-rich markets.
As global demand for critical minerals continues to rise, initiatives such as the Kalumbila MFEZ are increasingly viewed as vital platforms for attracting foreign investment, fostering industrial diversification, and strengthening Zambia’s role in the regional mining economy.
