from January 1 to December 11, 2023, Primera Gold exported 4.3 tonnes of artisanal gold

The Primera Gold company exported, from January 1 to December 11, 2023, 4.3 tonnes of artisanal gold from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to the Dubai market.

This export volume should generate revenues of around 261.5 million US dollars if we stick to the sale price on the Dubai Stock Exchange as of January 9, 2023, i.e. 59,580 dollars for a kilogram of gold.

In a press release published on September 30, 2023, the communications department of Primera Gold announced that this company had succeeded in exporting, in nine months, 3.5 tonnes of artisanal gold which allowed an injection of a total amount of 210 million US dollars in the Congolese economy.

In this same press release, the General Manager of Primera Gold DRC SA, Joseph Kazibazi, welcomed the efforts made by his team at Primera Gold DRC SA for having succeeded in implementing traceability of financial flows in the gold sector from artisanal exploitation, only nine months since the start of its activities.

According to this document, 95% of direct payments are now made via Congolese banking institutions. Which is a first in the DRC and in the artisanal gold sector.

To date, this traceability allows the Congolese state to clearly identify the end consumers of the dollars invested.

Primera Gold aims to capture 100% of the artisanal gold extracted in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Signed on December 10, 2022, the joint venture between the Government of the DRC and the United Arab Emirates, through Primera Group Limited, should allow the DRC to benefit from substantial tax, parafiscal and customs revenue to support its development plan.

The Democratic Republic of Congo holds 45% of the share capital compared to 55% for Primera Group Limited in the name and on behalf of the Government of the United Arab Emirates.
