Gibb River Diamonds Acquires Uranium Projects in Namibia

Australian company Gibb River Diamonds has acquired two uranium projects in Namibia, encompassing six exclusive prospecting licenses over an area of 1,828 km².

Alongside its ongoing development of the Ellendale diamond project and Edjudina gold project in Australia, Gibb River Diamonds is expanding its portfolio with these strategic acquisitions in the Erongo and Kunene districts of Namibia.

The Erongo district is a world-renowned uranium-producing region, hosting significant assets like Paladin’s Langer Heinrich, Deep Yellow’s Tumas deposit, and Elevate Uranium’s Koppies project.

Gibb’s Erongo project currently includes two permit applications covering a combined area of 47.6 km². The company is actively seeking additional opportunities to expand its landholdings in Erongo.

The Erongo permits are considered prospective for calcrete-palaeochannel-hosted uranium deposits. Notably, Elevate’s Koppies North prospect is truncated by the boundary of Gibb’s permit.

Gibb River Diamonds is advancing environmental and heritage clearances to gain exploration and drilling access to both permits, a process expected to take five to six months.

In addition, Gibb has appointed geologist Nico Scholtz as its Namibian exploration manager to lead the exploration efforts.

Meanwhile, Gibb River Diamonds continues to advance its projects in Western Australia. The company is preparing to publish an additional alluvial resource at the Ellendale diamond project and has secured a mining lease for the Edjudina gold project. Despite evaluating several uranium projects in Western Australia, the company has opted not to pursue these opportunities at this time.

With these strategic moves, Gibb River Diamonds aims to solidify its position in the uranium sector while continuing to develop its key assets in Australia.
