Illuminating the Zambian-Congo copperbelt with pursuit of high-value deposits
Midnight Sun Mining says drilling at Mitu Trend at Solwezi project confirms high-grade intercepts
Midnight Sun focuses on the exploration and discovery of world class copper deposits in the prolific Zambian-Congo Copperbelt. Midnight Sun’s Solwezi mineral exploration licenses in Zambia are located directly adjacent to the largest copper mine in Africa – First Quantum Minerals’ Kansanshi copper/gold mine.
Midnight Sun Mining Corp (TSX-V:MMA, OTCQB:MDNGF) said the remaining drill results from holes MTDD047 and MTDD048 and the results from the 2022 drilling campaign on the Mitu Trend at the Solwezi project in Zambia confirm high-grade intercepts.
The company said significant mineralisation was encountered, adding that the copper mineralisation intercepted at Mitu is associated with cobalt, nickel, and anomalous gold.
Among the highlights from hole MTDD044 are 11.50 meters (m) at 1.41% copper, 0.11% cobalt, and 0.03% nickel, including 4.15m at 1.29% copper, 0.13% cobalt, and 0.09% nickel; and 5.80m at 1.86% copper, 0.07% cobalt, and 0.02% nickel.
Other highlights are hole MTDD045 with 7.30m at 0.58% copper, 0.02% cobalt, and 0.02% nickel; MTDD047 with 26.10m at 0.32% copper, 0.07% cobalt, and 0.05% nickel; and MTDD048 with 22.25m at 0.39% copper, 0.01% cobalt, and 0.01% nickel.
Midnight Sun Mining Corp (TSX-V:MMA, OTCQB:MDNGF) president and CEO Al Fabbro joined Proactive’s Stephen Gunnion with details of the remaining drill results from holes MTDD047 and MTDD048 and the results from the 2022 drilling campaign on the Mitu Trend at the Solwezi project in Zambia.
Fabbro said the results confirm high-grade intercepts, with significant copper mineralisation associated with cobalt, nickel, and anomalous gold.
The 2022 exploration program accomplished the proof of concept the company had hoped for, with the new work revealing more insight into the mineralisation at Mitu, Fabbro said, adding that the geology at Mitu is consistent with that of First Quantum’s Sentinel Mine, located a short distance to the west.
