Jubilee Metals Secures New Power Supply Agreement in Zambia for Stable Operations

London- and Johannesburg-listed Jubilee Metals has successfully secured regulatory approval for a new power supply agreement in Zambia, with power delivery commencing on January 20.

This agreement enables the company to restart its Roan concentrator, ensuring a stable power supply moving forward.

The new power supply agreement, executed with a broad-based power provider, grants Jubilee access to a distributed power base from multiple generation sources.

This reduces reliance on a single supply source and mitigates risks associated with localized power distribution limitations.

Jubilee highlights that the additional power supply is delivered at a cost comparable to its existing agreement, ensuring both economic and operational stability.

The new supply is now fully operational, capable of meeting the power demands of both the Roan concentrator and the Sable processing plant, if needed.

Leveraging a diversified network of power generation sources, this solution ensures reliable operations and continuity. The company is actively preparing for the restart of the Roan concentrator, with copper production expected to reach targeted levels as operations ramp up.

CEO Leon Coetzer commended the team for its resilience in overcoming recent power challenges at the Zambian operations. “The commencement of this additional power supply effectively addresses the limitations that previously hindered Roan’s ability to operate,” he said. “We are now focused on preparing the plant for restart and ensuring reliable production and operational resilience.”
