MINE SUPPLIERS BUSINESS AFFECTED BY COVID 19

Association of mine suppliers and contractors says the Covid 19 pandemic has impacted the business volumes in the mining sector.

Association president Augustine Mubanga, said the pandemic had impacted many mine supplies and contractors who are threatened with closure.

He added that business volumes had dropped as many mining firms began to reassess their operations in view if the virus

‘’ There has been a drastic reduction in business and imports due to logistical restrictions, South Africa closed its ports, china as well, making it difficult to send some products. A few airlines have also increased their charges by three times, making it very difficult for our members to deliver their products,’’ he said

Mr. Mubanga said, an unexpected amount had to be put in place to help with the operations.

He appealed to members of the public to remain resolute in the face of declining business as he was hopeful that the situation would improve.

Mr. Mubanga also added that every business had its own ups and downs, but observed that the current Covid -19 outbreak had affected all sectors of the economy.

He further disclosed that mining firms were up to date with the payments, stating that they did not owe the association or their supplies and contractors anything.
