Minister Kazadi Highlights Role of IMF and World Bank in DRC’s Development
During a radio interview on Radio Top Congo, Finance Minister Nicolas Kazadi emphasized the significance of collaboration with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank in supporting countries’ development efforts.
Kazadi clarified that these institutions do not directly drive development but provide essential tools and resources for countries committed to progress.
He underscored that nations leveraging these resources have witnessed substantial advancements, achieving economic independence by consolidating their strengths.
Defending the financial support received, Kazadi stressed its role in addressing major challenges such as enhancing human capital, increasing social spending, promoting investment, and safeguarding the environment. These resources are deemed critical for the sustainable development of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Addressing budget management concerns related to the preparations for the Francophonie, Kazadi acknowledged the significant expenditure exceeding initial forecasts.
Despite challenges in cash flow, he highlighted the necessity of adjusting budget priorities to accommodate the increased spending.
By maintaining partnerships with the IMF and other international financial institutions, the DRC aims to enhance its capacity for autonomous and efficient public finance management while solidifying its achievements in economic and social development.
