Minister of Mines threatens to withdraw mining treatment approvals & cooperatives – DRC

The Minister of Mines, Antoinette N’samba Kalambayi summoned to her cabinet the mining companies and cooperatives operating in Mwenga in South Kivu, which are accused of violations of the relevant provisions of the Mining Code and Regulations. She asked all these mining companies and cooperatives to present themselves with all the administrative documents of their respective entities. This is provided by a document from the Ministry of Mines operated by DESKECO.COM. 

“Following several reports relating to your mining activities which do not seem to be in line with the obligations incumbent on you as mining companies and cooperatives, with regard to the relevant provisions of the Mining Code and Regulations, I ask you to introduce yourself, provided with all the administrative documents of your respective entities, at my Labor Office, located 4 level, Hôtel du Gouvernement, Place Royal, Boulevard du 30 Juin – Kinshasa / Gombe at the latest within 72 hours of receipt of this “, says Antoinette N’samba Kalambayi. 

The boss of Mines is threatening to withdraw mining treatment approvals from companies and cooperatives that do not go to her office within 72 hours. Note that this document dates from August 26, 2021.  

In addition, Antoinette N’samba Kalambayi also instructed the head of the provincial division of Mines to send her the complete list of other mining companies and cooperatives which violate the laws and regulations in this area. 

“After this period, those absent will simply have their approval as processing entity or mining cooperative withdrawn. The Head of the Provincial Division of Mines, who reads me in copy, is responsible for sending me the complete list of all the other companies. and mining cooperatives that do not comply with the Laws and Regulations on the matter “, we can read in this document.

Among these mining companies and cooperatives, there are in particular: BM Global Business Sarl; Congo Blueant Minerals (CBM) Sarl and its partner COMIBI; Orientale Ressource Congo Sarl (CRC); Yelow Water Resources Sarl; New Continent Mineral (NCM) Sarl; Cristal Service Group; MUNGU NI JIBU Cooperative; LUTONDE Cooperative; COMIBI cooperative.
