PRESIDENT FELIX TSHISEKEDI ARRIVES IN PARIS FOR A 3-DAY OFFICIAL VISIT

It was in the early morning of Monday, April 29 that the President of Felix Tshisekedi arrived in Paris, France, for an official visit of 3 days.

On this occasion, the French Republic has unfurled the entire protocol for hosting a State visit in two stages.

At Paris Orly Airport, the Head of State and the distinguished First Lady Denise Nyakeru were received by Mrs. Chrysoula ZACHAPOPOULI, Secretary of State for Development and International Partners.

The other moment of solemn welcome was at the mythical Place des Invalides in the heart of Paris.

Flanked by Minister Zachapopuulou, President Tshisekedi received military honours and reviewed the detachment of the French Republican Guard, in the presence of several Congolese and French political figures.

On the first day of this visit, the Head of State will be received at the National Assembly and the Senate for high-level exchanges with the French political class.

The official programme includes a one-on-one meeting on Tuesday with his counterpart Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace before a meeting with the French employers’ association, the Medef.

The Head of State also planned to meet the Congolese diaspora in France, who voted massively for him in the last presidential election on December 20, 2023.

Invited by his counterpart Emmanuel Macron, the President Tshisekedi is keen to revitalise the strategic partnership between the DRC and France.

Kinshasa hopes for multifaceted support from France, as a member of the Security Council, for the efforts of the Head of State to recover the territorial integrity of the country threatened by a war of aggression and predation on the part of Rwanda.
