President Tshisekedi Unveils Ambitious Rural Infrastructure Plan for 2025
In his annual State of the Nation Address at the People’s Palace, President Félix Tshisekedi presented an ambitious plan to rehabilitate rural infrastructure in 2025. This initiative is a key component of the Local Development Program of the 145 Territories (PDL-145T).
The Head of State announced plans to rehabilitate 38,000 kilometers of agricultural service roads under the PDL-145T, along with 11,423 kilometers of additional priority roads, all within a single year.
“This work will be accompanied by the deployment of road brigades in each province to ensure regular maintenance,” stated President Tshisekedi.
The program also includes the development of 11,432 kilometers of waterways to facilitate agricultural services, alongside the construction of port warehouses.
These efforts aim to improve access to production areas, stimulate rural economies, and enhance food security nationwide.
Significant funding for these projects has been earmarked in the 2025 Finance Bill, which is currently under review by Parliament.
The plan extends beyond roads and waterways to include the installation of drinking water systems, photovoltaic micro-power plants, modern marketplaces, and community living spaces in rural areas.
“The development of agricultural access roads will play a key role in transforming the agricultural sector, improving the incomes of rural households, and enhancing the well-being of the population,” President Tshisekedi emphasized, highlighting the strategic importance of rural infrastructure in achieving national development goals.
This comprehensive approach underscores the government’s commitment to fostering rural development, boosting economic opportunities, and improving living standards across the Democratic Republic of Congo.
