SADC Pledges Support for Peace and Stability in DRC and Mozambique

The Southern African Development Community (SADC) has reaffirmed its commitment to providing diplomatic and military assistance to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Mozambique in their efforts to address ongoing violence and unrest.

During the summit, SADC member states pledged their unwavering support to the governments of the DRC and Mozambique, aiming to achieve lasting peace, stability, and security in the region.

The summit’s communique, delivered by SADC Executive Secretary Elias Magosi, lauded troop-contributing countries and commended the dedication of personnel deployed in the SADC Missions in Mozambique (SAMIM) and the DRC (SAMIDRC) for their efforts in maintaining regional peace and security.

Magosi emphasized the continued backing of political and diplomatic initiatives, such as the Luanda and Nairobi Processes, aimed at resolving conflicts in the region.

And In his closing remarks, President Hakainde Hichilema, serving as the chairperson of the Organ Troika, expressed gratitude to all attending heads of state and their representatives for their cooperation in advancing peace and security.

He stressed the significance of global collaboration and support for regional organizations in fostering an environment conducive to peace, security, and stability.

He reiterated the member states’ desire for a more stable SADC, emphasizing the importance of utilizing limited resources to enhance the living standards of citizens across the region.
