Sama Lukonde at INDABA/2022 to present investment opportunities in the DRC

Accompanied by the Ministers of Mines, Digital and Communication and Media, the Head of Government, Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde, arrived Sunday evening in Cape Town, South Africa, where he came to represent the President of the Republic, Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, at this Forum placed under the theme “Evolution of the African mining sector: investing in energy transition, ESG and savings”. It is around this main theme that the various exchanges and reflections will be carried out.

The participants in these conferences are called upon to look in the same direction for a better future for the African community. This 25th edition of the Indaba Mining Forum since its creation, finds a managerial alternative so that the first beneficiaries of mining resources are first and always Africans.

Note at this opening ceremony, the presence of the Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema alongside his South African counterpart Cyril Ramaphosa, the organizing country of these meetings, without forgetting the Botswanan Mokgweetsi Masisi.

Several economic operators in the mining sector, members of civil society, mining sector experts from around the world take part in this important event to exchange and boost investments in the mining sector in order to promote the development of the African continent. .

According to the Minister of Communication and Media, Government Spokesperson, Patrick Muyaya, the theme that is the subject of these meetings places the DRC at the heart of the issues.

“The Democratic Republic of Congo is used to participating in this major continental meeting which discusses mining issues. But you know that because of Covid-19, this meeting has not been held for two years and two months. This meeting of the recovery comes with a theme that puts the Democratic Republic of Congo at the heart. You have followed the speeches particularly of the Zambian President where there was much more talk about the role that the DRC can play not only in the energy transition but also in the production of batteries and everything related to the challenges of the 21st century. For us as a Government, it was important and this is what justifies the participation of the Prime Minister himself, at a high level,to show that we want to take advantage of this platform to convey the message of the Democratic Republic of Congo as a solution country both in the preservation of the climate but also as a solution country involved in the production of the main materials used in the formation of electric batteries which are essential in the energy transition”, Patrick Muyaya Katembwe told the press.

Prime Minister Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde will speak this Tuesday, May 10 to present the expectations of the DRC from these exchanges.
