SUPERINTENDENT, FLOTATION | MINING CAREER AT FQM, KALUMBILA, SOLWEZI, ZAMBIA

Purpose
Supervise flotation operations in accordance with Mining Regulations M.R. 204(3), KMP policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Understand and execute accountabilities of legal appointment under Zambian Mining Regulations;
- Maintain HSE standards and ensure strict compliance within flotation plant
- Ensure all Safety and Environmental incidents are addressed & reported promptly;
- Consistently deliver and exceed the main KPI of plant recovery and concentrate quality, with particular focus on process stability (capability and reliability) of reagent dosing;
- Oversee the daily to monthly operations of the flotation plant and personnel to ensure optimized plant utilization and metallurgical performance;
- Monitor, control and report on performance indicators, plant activities and operational shortfalls;
- Ensure high availability and utilization of critical in- line instrumentation (ie PSI & OSA);
- Build flotation ‘team’ environment with maintenance, planning, reliability engineering, metallurgical engineering and operations personnel;
- Ensure the diagnosis of plant defects is conducted, focusing on identifying root cause and then the implementation of both corrective and preventative measures;
- Liaise with peer Superintendents (technical, and maintenance) to deliver requirements of the section in the context of the whole plant
- Ensure both short and long term equipment plans and schedules (both maintenance and production tasks) are in place to deliver equipment capability
- Support maintenance in the delivery of their tasks and equipment reliability;
- Define, priorities, obtain approval for and implement capital improvement projects;
- Lead the Flotation team, to consistently deliver and exceed expectations;
- Maintain staff development and training programs, particularly skills transfer and coaching to the staff
- Contribute to the quarterly and annual operations production budget/forecasts;
- Prepare the annual Flotation operations budget and provide quarterly forecasts;
- Control, report and reduce operational costs
Qualifications
- A Tertiary Qualifications in Extractive Metallurgy, Mineral Processing or related field
- Eligibility for membership of the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ), and to hold legal appointment as defined by the Mining Regulations of Zambia;
Experience
- A minimum of 10 years of direct experience in technical and /or operational roles of flotation circuits
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience at a Senior Supervisory or Management level
- Significant experience in a lager, complex base metals processing plant(s);
- Preferably experienced in the copper and gold circuits
- Exposure to minerals processing plant design and metallurgical optimization
