The DRC Mining Industry Records a Production Of Over 2.1 Million Tonnes of Copper by November for the Year 2022

The mining companies established in the Democratic Republic of the Congo produced an estimated volume of 2 million 190,818 tonnes of copper during the first 11 months of 2022 against 1 million 607,485 tonnes in the same period in 2021, i.e. an increase in production of more than of 583,000 tons, informs the Central Bank of Congo in its Summary of statistical information.

In this volume of production, the part of Gécamines, company of the portfolio of the State, is only 4,114 tons of copper.
For the whole of 2021, the DRC had produced 1 million 797,836 tonnes of copper.

Currently, the price of copper on the international market is around 8,000 USD per ton. Therefore, the production during the 11 months of the year 2022 has an estimated gross market value of 17.5 billion USD.
