Tshisekedi and IGF Chief Discuss Anti-Corruption and Revenue Mobilization

On Wednesday, September 18, President Félix Tshisekedi received the Inspector General of Finance (IGF), Jules Alingete Key, at the African Union City.

The meeting, according to the Presidency, focused on the ongoing fight against corruption, embezzlement of public funds, and other unethical practices within the government.

Alingete, who leads the IGF’s efforts to combat financial misconduct, presented a report on the institution’s monitoring of state financial operations.

Jules Alingete emphasized that President Tshisekedi’s “clear and precise” directives aim to strengthen the IGF’s role in supporting the mobilization of public revenue.

“We are aligned with the President’s instructions to embody his vision in the fight against corruption,” Alingete stated after the meeting, as reported by the Presidency.

The timing of this meeting is significant, occurring shortly after the opening of the September parliamentary session, which is primarily budget-focused.

With the ambitious 2025 budget plan, observers see this as a crucial moment for President Tshisekedi to reaffirm his six key commitments, particularly in revenue mobilization.

The meeting also reinforces the IGF’s critical role in supporting the government’s efforts to enhance public revenue collection, building on the progress achieved under Prime Minister Sama Lukonde’s administration.

Through continued collaboration with the IGF, President Tshisekedi aims to ensure that the government’s ambitious financial goals are met, further strengthening anti-corruption measures and securing the funds necessary for national development.
