Worley wins two-year North Sea EPC contract with CNOOC
China National Offshore Oil Company (CNOOC) has awarded a two-year North Sea contract to engineering services firm Worley.
The engineering construction and procurement (EPC) services deal covers the Buzzard, Golden Eagle and Scott platforms.
Worley, which is headquartered in Australia, will carry out the work from its Aberdeeen office, with support from the Global Integrated Delivery team.
Chief executive Chris Ashton said: “We are pleased that CNOOC Europe has selected Worley to continue supporting its North Sea assets.
“With our strategic focus on sustainability and delivering a more sustainable world, we’re delighted this work includes evaluation of alternative energy sources, building further on Worley’s relationship with CNOOC and our off-shore capabilities in the North Sea.”
Buzzard lies about 60miles off Aberdeen and is one of the largest-producing fields in the UK. Scott is 70 miles off and Golden Eagle lies around 115miles north-east of the city.
Worley also won an EPC deal with CNOOC – then Nexen – back in 2018 for the Buzzard Phase 2 project.
First oil from that development was due in 2020 however Covid pushed the timeline into this year.
Worley was also directly hit by the virus, with heavy job cuts as a result of the pandemic.
