Zambia and Angola Deepen Economic Cooperation Through High-Level Engagements in Luanda
Zambia Embassy in Luanda Advances Trade and Investment Talks with AIPEX, OMATAPALO and CCIA to Boost Zambia–Angola Economic Ties
The Embassy of the Republic of Zambia in Luanda has concluded a series of high-level economic engagements aimed at strengthening bilateral trade and investment cooperation between Zambia and Angola.
The meetings brought together Zambia’s Ambassador to Angola, Elias Munshya, with key Angolan economic stakeholders, including Dr Arlindo das Chagas Rangel, Chief Executive Officer of Agência de Investimento Privado e Promoção das Exportações (AIPEX), senior management of OMATAPALO – Engenharia e Construção S.A., and Mr Vicente Soares, President of the Câmara de Comércio e Indústria de Angola (CCIA).
Discussions focused on accelerating bilateral trade flows, formalising existing cross-border commercial activity, and positioning both countries to leverage improving infrastructure linkages.
Particular emphasis was placed on opportunities arising from the Lobito Corridor and the development of eastern road networks connecting Angola to Zambia.
These transport corridors are expected to enhance regional logistics efficiency, reduce trade costs, and unlock new value chains across agriculture, mining and manufacturing.
During the engagements, the Zambian Embassy highlighted Zambia’s current maize surplus available for export and encouraged structured private sector collaboration to facilitate reciprocal market access.
Both sides acknowledged the importance of formalising informal trade flows to increase transparency, revenue collection and supply chain reliability.
Participants underscored the need to strengthen institutional coordination to remove administrative and regulatory bottlenecks, ensuring that policy alignment translates into measurable commercial outcomes.
Infrastructure cooperation and the strategic role of private sector actors in driving regional connectivity, industrialisation and investment were central themes throughout the discussions.
The Embassy also reaffirmed Zambia’s invitation to Angolan institutions and companies to participate in the upcoming Invest Zambia International Conference, scheduled for 14–16 July in Lusaka.
Zambian businesses were similarly encouraged to engage with major Angolan trade and investment platforms to deepen commercial linkages.
According to the Embassy, the engagements reflect Zambia’s commitment to proactive economic diplomacy and to building a mutually beneficial partnership with Angola anchored on expanded trade, coordinated infrastructure development, and robust private sector collaboration.
