Zinc is trading at USD 2,614.45 per tonne this week in DRC
Of all the mining products exported from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), only zinc is expected to experience a slight price increase this week on world markets.
According to forecasts from the National Mercurial Commission of the Ministry of Foreign Trade, which covers the period from May 29 to June 3, 2023, zinc is expected to trade at 2,614.45 USD per ton this week against 2,520.30 USD per tonne last week, representing a slight price increase of around 94.15 USD.
The same document from the Ministry of Foreign Trade also indicates that the prices of other mining products, namely copper, cobalt, tin, gold, silver and tantalum, fell during the same period.
These products will trade respectively at 8,071.25 USD against 8,208.20 USD per ton; 34,238.00 USD against 34,240.00 USD per ton; 25,161.00 USD against 25,846.25 USD per ton; $64.51 versus $65.43 per gram; $0.75 versus $0.82 per gram and $359.00 versus $393.75 per kilogram.
For several weeks, the flagship mining products exported from the Democratic Republic of Congo have been experiencing a price drop on international markets.
This situation should worry the smooth running of the Congolese economy, which is mainly supported by the mining sector.
