947,000 tons of gray cement produced at the end of August 2022 in DRC
The cement industries of the Democratic Republic of Congo achieved a production of 947,000 tons for the period from January 1 to August 31, 2022. This is what emerges from the latest summary of statistical information published by the Central Bank of Congo. (BCC).
Cement production is down during the period under analysis compared to the same period of 2021 when cement production was estimated at 10,606 tonnes, the same source reports. There is a drop in production of around 659,000 tonnes of cement in eight months of the current year.
According to these data from the Central Bank of Congo, for the whole of 2021, the volume of cement production in the Democratic Republic of Congo stood at 16,079 tonnes.
To date, the country faces a deficit in the production of cement. In some provinces of the country, a bag of cement trades for up to 30 USD while the price in Kinshasa is around 15 USD.
This price difference is due to the difficulties of access in certain corners of the country which are totally landlocked, where a lot of resources have to be deployed to transport the goods there.
