Shuka Minerals Launches Phase 1 Drilling at Kabwe No.2 Orebody to Assess Zinc and Critical Mineral Potential
Shuka Minerals Begins Drilling at Kabwe Zinc Mine in Zambia to Test Depth Extension and Critical Minerals
Shuka Minerals has commenced its Phase 1 diamond drilling programme at the No. 2 orebody of its Kabwe zinc mine in Zambia, marking a key step in assessing the deposit’s depth potential and additional mineral value.
The No. 2 orebody is currently open at depth, indicating that mineralisation continues beyond previously mined levels.
The initial diamond drill hole will be inclined at 65 degrees and is designed to intersect the orebody beneath existing underground workings at an estimated depth of between 220 metres and 230 metres.
In addition to zinc mineralisation, the No. 2 orebody is known to contain traces of silver, vanadium, gallium, and germanium.
However, these critical and strategic minerals were not the primary focus of earlier exploration and mining activities at the site.
Shuka Minerals has indicated that the current drilling programme will not only target zinc continuity at depth but will also include further technical evaluation to determine the potential economic significance of these additional metals.
The results from Phase 1 drilling are expected to guide future exploration work and help refine the company’s understanding of the broader mineral resource potential at Kabwe.
