DRC: Gécamines recovers minerals intercepted by the Industrial Guard from the Kabolela mine in Likasi

Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde, general manager of Gécamines, attended, during a mission of observation which he carried out on Tuesday, a ceremony of restitution of a cargo made up of 5 trucks of minerals intercepted by the industrial guard , coming from the Kabolela mine in Likasi, 120 km from Lubumbashi in the Haut-Katanga province.

He indicated that the Likasi judicial authorities present at the place proceeded with the restitution pending the continuation of the investigations to sanction the culprits.

Satisfied with the work done, he took this opportunity to thank the industrial guard as well as the judicial authorities of Likasi for the work done by treating this file impartially.

DG Jean Michel Sama Lukonde has also promised to do his best to protect the heritage of Gécamines.

In the same vein, he let it be known that Gécamines is not a cash cow where everyone can come and help themselves. He warned all those who will engage in illicit and fraudulent production, before promising to fight this practice with the greatest energy.

As a result, he invited the agents and operators to return to legality while specifying that the door remains open for those who will want to use the available sites through legal channels.
