A team led by researchers at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in the United States designed a highly active catalyst that contains cobalt interspersed with nitrogen and carbon and, thus, doesn’t rely on platinum to spur the necessary chemical reaction. The mining industry produced 1,456,252.54 tonnes of copper during the first 11 months of 2020 against 1,295,131.65 tonnes in the same period in 2019, an increase of 12.43%, according to data provided by the Ministry of Mines. This production volume at the end of November 2020 beats the production record for the whole of 2019, which was 1 million 420 386 tonnes of copper.
