Russia, Australia to drive global gold output growth – report

Global gold mine production growth will rebound in the coming years underpinned by higher gold prices and mergers between major mining firms, market analyst Fitch Solutions forecasts in its latest industry report. Major mergers among global miners and an improving gold price outlook will boost global mine supply in the coming quarters, and Fitch forecasts global gold production to increase from 106moz in 2020 to 134moz by 2029, averaging 2.5% annual growth. Some of those artisanal mines are plagued by violent gangs that have political connections, it said. Smuggling is flourishing under a Zimbabwean law that forces miners to sell their precious metal to a unit of the central… Read More Here

China coal imports to increase in December – report

An analysis published by Wood Mackenzie forecasts that thermal coal imports will increase in December in China. According to the market analyst, seaborne thermal coal imports will grow from 9.5 Mt to 20 Mt in December. This new figure is much higher than the 8.8 Mt in September or the 17.7 Mt average of the first nine months of the year. In WoodMac’s view, the increase will work to ease domestic prices and strengthen seaborne prices. The scenario that leads to such growth is based on a series of factors that have… Read More Here
