China targets 20% share of new energy vehicle sales by 2025

The Chinese government has launched a new energy vehicle (NEV) industry development plan that will see NEV sales account for 20% of the country’s total vehicle sales by 2025. The plan, which covers the period from 2021 to 2035, will also see battery-electric vehicles dominating new vehicle sales by 2035. By that time, China’s goal is to have all of its public transport running on electric power. A US Court for the Eastern District of New York on Tuesday sentenced OZ Africa, a subsidiary of multi-billion-dollar hedge fund Och-Ziff, for corruption linked to mining projects in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The court reportedly awarded $135 million in restitution to the former shareholders of Africo Resources Ltd, who lost their investment. The shareholders were recognized as “victims of crime” by the court for loss of their interest in the prospective Kalukundi copper and cobalt mine in southern Congo. Ivanhoe Mines (TSX: IVN; OTCQX: IVPAF) announced on Monday that the underground development at the Kamoa-Kakula copper project in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) totalled 2,172 metres in October, a new monthly record. The result brings total underground development to 24.7 kilometres – approximately 7.9 kilometres ahead of schedule. According to Ivanhoe, mining crews produced a combined 194,000 tonnes of ore in October from the Kakula and Kansoko mines, which was 48% higher than achieved in September. LSE and ASX-listed base metal explorer Castillo Copper has confirmed eight priority targets at its 100% owned Mkushi project in Zambia’s copper-belt following its recently completed systematic infillsoil sampling campaign.
