Indian company Tata Group is considering setting up a battery cell plant for electric vehicles (EV) in Spain or Britain, a source with knowledge of the matter told Reuters, as the carmaker seeks to boost supply chains in Europe. A South African company owned by a Zambian, Bizwell Mutale, has offered to buy Mopani Copper Mines for $2.8 billion. The offer was made in a letter addressed to Rothschild and Company, who are consultants for Zambia Consolidated Copper Mines Investment Holdings (ZCCM-IH). Zambia’s Mines Minister Paul Kabuswe announced today, 6th Feb, that Mopani Copper Mines will acquire a new investor by the close of this quarter. He considers the complex, owned by state mining firm ZCCM-IH, a crucial asset for Zambia’s Copperbelt region.
