DRC: in the first quarter of 2022, the Congolese oil industry produced only 2,145 barrels

In the midst of a global crisis affecting the main basic necessities, thus causing the rise in the price of petroleum products on the international market, the oil industry in the Democratic Republic of the Congo has slowed down during the first three months of the current year.

According to data published by the Central Bank of Congo (BCC), in its statistical summary, the Congolese oil industry produced only 2,145 barrels during the first quarter of 2022.

This production is far from meeting the growing demand for petroleum products on the national market of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

In the first quarter of last year, oil production in the Democratic Republic of Congo stood at 2,056 barrels to end the year with a production of 8,455 barrels of oil.

With the granting of exploitation rights for Hydrocarbons in the DRC, the Congolese Government hopes to reach a production of 200,000 barrels per day. A bet that is by no means impossible when you know that the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is one of the countries with considerable potential in terms of oil and gas that is still under-exploited.

According to official statistics from the Ministry of Hydrocarbons, crude oil resources are estimated at more than 22 billion barrels of oil and 66 billion normal cubic meters of gas located in Lake Kivu.
