The Minister of Mines, Willy Kitobo, is suspending the head of the Lualaba Mines Division following information on proven facts of fraud, mining smuggling and illegal mining in this province.
This is what informs a press release from the Ministry of Mines which reached our editorial staff on Wednesday, April 7.
“Following the numerous information on the proven facts of fraud, mining smuggling and illegal mining exploitation in the Province of Lualaba and confirmed by the Authorities of the Province, His Excellency the National Minister of Mines has just suspended the Head of the Division of Mines of the Lualaba, recently promoted to this post as part of improving the governance of the mining sector in the provinces, “said the press release.
Minister Willy Kitobo has ordered the Secretary General of Mines to appoint his deputy on an interim basis. He also called for the evacuation of the division chief suspended in Kinshasa to promote the opening of a thorough investigation in order to dismantle the mafia networks which organize the pouring of the Republic’s revenue.
“Order has been given to the Secretary General of Mines to appoint an agent having the grade immediately below your grade and functions of the Head of Division suspended. In addition, the latter must be heard within 48 hours in Kinshasa by the SG who is in charge to carry out an in-depth investigation to shed light on the dismantling of all mafia networks, ”the same press release said.
While the country is struggling to properly mobilize revenues, an emphasis must be placed on the dismantling of mafia networks which embezzle state money in an organized gang.
