DRC: Sama Lukonde and Glencore CEO review the Congolese operations of this mining giant
The Congolese Prime Minister, Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde Kyenge, discussed this Tuesday, May 4, 2021, with the delegation of Glencore Group led by its CEO, Mr. Ivan Glasenberg.
At the center of their interview, the evolution of the operations of Glencore Group, which includes the mining companies Kamoto Copper Compagny (KCC) and Mutanda Mining (MuMI) in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
At the end of this hearing, Mr. Ivan Glasenberg explained that the improvement in metal prices should also benefit the State.
“ We were received by the Prime Minister to update him on the activities of KCC and Mutanda Mining in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Everything is going well, seeing the prices of copper and cobalt. We believe that it will indeed benefit the country. We will pay more royalties and taxes to the country . He said.
Before continuing: “ This is not the first time that I have met the Prime Minister. I had to meet him when he was at the head of Gecamines. He’s someone I really appreciate. He is very supportive and knows our industry. So I am very happy and happy to have him as Prime Minister, ”said the CEO of Glencore Group.
