PURPOSE
- The Foreman Surfacing shall oversee surfacing operatives and the day-to-day monitoring of all site operations for matters of Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality and Security control. The suitable candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all works are carried out as per agreed methods as defined within the site specific Risk Assessments and Process statements. Additionally, the Foreman Surfacing will ensure the company’s management systems and processes are fully understood and adhered to by all under his supervision on site.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise an assigned team in performing bituminous seal duties including raking, smoothing and tamping relating to the pavement, re-surfacing and repair of roads and highways, including but not limited to the Mine Lease and Solwezi Township
- Supervising the operating of equipment including Bitumen Distributors, Slurry Pavers, Rollers, etc.
- To ensure understanding and application of responsibilities with regard to the company’s Health, Safety, Environnent, Security and Quality standards
- Advise his/her manager throughout the project if expectations of production are not being achieved
- Work closely with management, to ensure contracts are completed on time, within budget and to the client’s satisfaction
- Ensure all equipment and tools are safe to use, inspected before use and report to maintenance any that are not in an acceptable condition
- Promote good practice of material sustainability to reduce waste
- Recording and reporting all defective materials and unsatisfactory quality / workmanship standards
- Accountable for min and max stock quantities of bituminous consumables
- To maintain accurate site diaries detailing site conditions, progress and the resources available to undertake the work activities throughout the construction phase
- Checklists are completed for plant on site
- Toolbox talks are conducted daily
- Ensuring all registers are accurately maintained: Permits to work, Risk assessments and Environmental Exemptions
QUALIFICATIONS
- Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate or equivalent
- Minimum of a Craft Certificate
EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of 5 years relevant experience in relevant field will be an added advantage.
