Gold Refinery on Cards in the DRC
The Managing Director of the mining company, Congo Gold Raffinerie, CGR, Karim SOMJI and his representative and Deputy Managing Director in the Democratic Republic of Congo, YASIN KARIM SOMJI , were received in audience at the office of the Minister of Mines, Antoinette N ‘ SAMBA KALAMBAYI , Thursday, October 28, 2021.
They came to present to the Minister, the progress of the works and the progress of the construction of a Gold Refinery in Bukavu, in the province of North Kivu, with a view to refining the raw gold on site in the country. at 99% before any possible export. This good news was a satisfaction for the Minister of Mines of the DRC who, during the holding of the Estates General of Mines last August in Kinshasa, had insisted in terms of the recommendations, in particular to see the DRC equip itself with refineries and start to locally refine gold, for the benefit of the Congolese population. At the end of this hearing, YASIN KARIM SOMJI, set the opinion that the gold that will be refined will bring added value and will go through the Central Bank of Congo before exporting. The delegation of Congo Gold Raffinerie, (CGR), reassures that,in four months, the raw gold processing plant will be commissioned. It will be the first industrial gold foundry that the DRC will acquire in a short time.
