Job description:

Purpose of the role:

  • The holder of this position will be required to efficiently and effectively delivering complete and appropriate planned preventative maintenance, improvement, breakdowns and fault analysis on the entire plant for Field Instrumentation and Control systems and oversee all task schedules, on all relevant equipment, ensuring that administration in the areas of responsibility is up to date and accurate, contributing expertise and support to the Engineering and Processing departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute/perform maintenance tasks covering the entire plant with regards to Control & Instrumentation systems.
  • Analyse Instrumentation failures and recommend improvements for such failed systems to be improved
  • Install/maintain, configure of Field Bus systems (Profibus/Ethernet) / Fiber Optical systems – ensuring that both company and vendor safety and quality standards are adhered to, whilst ensuring minimum disruption to the process plant operation or production
  • Performing fault analysis / fault finding on field Bus systems (Profibus/Ethernet) / Fibre Optical systems in order to eliminate re-occurrences of repetitive faults and improve process control systems reliability and efficiency
  • Understand network drawings of a processing plant in relation to the Control & Instrumentation systems and equipment installed
  • Adhere to the company planned and preventative maintenance schedules and procedures
  • Keep record of all changes and updated drawings for systems / network in area of responsibility and provide feedback to direct supervisor
  • Execute / advise / update all maintenance schedules in area of responsibility
  • Adhere to the correct and safe usage of all workshop tools and PPE and apply and practice correct safe working principles and standards during all installation / maintenance tasks
  • Any other tasks as may be delegated upon by the supervisor.

Qualification, Experience & Skill:

  • G12 Certificate
  • Minimum of a BSc Degree in Instrumentation / Electronics, or equivalent appropriate experience
  • A craft qualification in Instrumentation will be an advantage
  • Registered member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ)
  • 2-years post qualifying experience in automated Industrial processing plants.
  • Ability to read Instrumentation drawings
  • Ability in understanding Profibus Networking / Fiber Optical networking – integrating with Siemens Control systems
  • Experience in Profibus DP, PA and Ethernet networks
  • Knowledge and understanding of Siemens S7-range of PLC hardware installation and troubleshooting will be advantageous
  • Exceptional skills in Field Instrumentation, installation, maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Knowledge and understanding of computer configuration will be advantageous
  • Knowledge and understanding of server management / configuration will be advantageous
  • Experience in variable speed drives will be an advantage
  • Mining environment experience will be an added advantage
  • Working experience on crushers, conveyors, milling, flotation circuits, reagent and concentrate areas, thickeners as well as water and air services will be an added advantage
  • Must have a valid Zambian vehicle driver’s license
