Mining in the DRC

Copperbelt Katanga Mining is currently tracking almost numerous mining projects in the DRC across all stages of development. Among these projects is the Kinsevere Mine, located 30 km north of Lubumbashi, in the Kipushi Territory in the Katanga Province. Owned by MMG Limited, this is one of the most important copper mines in the world, with a capital value of about ZAR 30.6 billion, and is comprised of three mostly stratiform deposits in alternating dolomitic and terrigenous formations.

Another critical copper mine is Mawson West Limited’s Dikulushi Cutback Project, located west of Lake Mweru and 48 km north-northwest of Kilwa. With a capital value exceeding ZAR 58 billion, the mine is currently being expanded to access proved and probable mineral reserves of 539 000 tons at 6.1% copper and 182 grams per ton silver.
