DRC: 28,990 tonnes of cobalt produced by mining companies during the first 3 months of 2022
The Democratic Republic of Congo produced 28,990 tonnes of cobalt in the first three months of this year compared to 21,204 tonnes of cobalt in the same period of 2021, an increase of 7,786 tonnes of cobalt, according to data provided by the Central Bank in its compendium of statistical information.
Of this production volume, Gécamines, a Congolese state company, produced 5,422 tons of cobalt during the same period.
Note that the mining industry in the DRC produced a volume of 93,011 tonnes of cobalt in 2021, according to data from the Central Bank of Congo.
On the international market, cobalt is currently trading around 53,000 USD per ton.
