Zambia’s Chipangali Council Penalizes Mining Company for Safety Breaches
During a recent gathering of the full council, it was revealed that Kuma Mining Company, involved in granite extraction, has been sanctioned by the Chipangali Town Council for several safety regulation infractions.
The company was found to be lacking a dust emission report, among other breaches of safety protocols.
Council Chairperson, Maxson Nkhoma, shared this information and emphasized that the local administration has been in communication with all mining enterprises within the district, stressing the importance of carrying out social corporate responsibilities.
Kennedy Sakala, the Councillor for Kasenga Ward, expressed his concerns about the welfare of workers and urged mining corporations to prioritize their safety.
Additionally, during the same assembly, the Council Chairperson encouraged community leaders to persist in their efforts to raise awareness about the Constituency Development Fund.
