PerencoOil & Gas Mining in DRC

Sylvestre Ilunkamba had a meeting with a delegation from PERENCO | DRC

The Prime Minister, Sylvestre Ilunga Ilunkamba, chaired this Thursday, September 3 at the Government building in Kinshasa, a working session which brought together the ad hoc committee devoted to the PERENCO company file.

During his intervention to the press at the end of this hearing, Jean Baudoin Mayo, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of the Budget indicates that the details and precision as to this will be given in the report of the 47th meeting of the Council of Ministers which will take place this Friday 04 September.

“The PERENCO dossier was presented by the Minister of Hydrocarbons at the last meeting of the Council of Ministers. The Head of State had instructed the Prime Minister to bring together lawyers from the Government and the Presidency and those from his cabinet to explore this question in depth. This has just been done. A report will be made to the Council of Ministers tomorrow. The opinion will be fixed by the Report of the Minister of Communication, spokesperson for the Government ”, said Jean Baudoin Mayo.

As a reminder, the PERENCO company exploits Congolese oil and wishes to launch into the production of electricity from the gas resulting from the exploitation of oil. The gases burnt in flares are indeed pollutants of the atmosphere, and in these times of the fight against climate change, their transformation into electricity could help increase the supply of this energy.

This ad hoc commission was made up of members of the Government, in particular the ministers of Planning, Budget, Interior and Security, International Cooperation and Regional Integration, Decentralization, Hydraulic Resources and Electricity, Hydrocarbons, Environment, Justice, Scientific Research, Communication and Media, Business Social and ESU, as well as lawyers from the Presidency of the Republic and the Office of the Prime Minister.
