Minister of Technology Mutati Highlights Benefits of Lusaka-Ndola PPP Project

At the groundbreaking ceremony for the Lusaka-Ndola dual carriageway, Minister of Technology and Science, Hon. Felix Mutati MP, highlighted the significance of Zambia’s first major Public-Private Partnership (PPP) project, which promises numerous benefits.

The $650 million USD contract with AVIC will allocate 20% of the work to Zambian subcontractors, involving local companies in the project alongside AVIC.

Minister Mutati emphasized the importance of dedication and high-quality work from these subcontractors, hoping this experience will enable them to manage similar projects independently in the future.

To equip Zambian youths with necessary skills, Minister Mutati urged AVIC to collaborate closely with the Ministry of Technology and Science.

The project will create business opportunities for people in Chibombo and Katuba, facilitating better market access for traders along the road to Lusaka and beyond.

Minister Mutati credited President Hakainde Hichilema’s leadership for realizing this landmark PPP project. He underscored its potential to enhance Zambia’s status as a land-linked country, boosting economic growth and investment beyond Katuba and Chibombo.

The dual carriageway is expected to decongest traffic, reduce vehicle wear and tear, lower fuel consumption, and improve road safety, marking a significant step forward in Zambia’s infrastructure development.
