CAMINEX : A STORY OF HERITAGE,TRANSITION AND GROWTH
The Copperbelt Agricultural and Commercial Show Society (CACSS), established in the 1950s with its first show held in 1957, has long been a pillar of agricultural and commercial development in the Copperbelt.
What began as a celebration & showcase of farming, community and trade gradually grew into a wider platform reflecting the Copperbelt’s evolution. As mining, energy and industry expanded, the Show grew with it – adapting to a changing economy while holding firm to its agricultural roots.
After more than 60 years of tradition, the world had shifted, and so did the needs of exhibitors, investors and industry players. The turning point came in 2017 when the Show was no longer defined by agriculture & entertainment alone – mining, energy, industry, finance and commerce had become just as essential. The Show needed to evolve, to carry a broader purpose.
From this moment of reinvention, CAMINEX was born – the Copperbelt Agricultural, Mining, Industrial, Networking & Enterprise Expo. More than a name change, it was a transformation into a modern business platform where tractors stand beside drill rigs, where farmers meet manufacturers, where financiers court innovators, where technologists, miners, engineers and traders all network, share knowledge, solutions and possibilities for growth.
A ‘true business expo’ that was desperately needed as a reboot. A reboot to the thinking, the culture and the way we declared that the Copperbelt is open for business.
Today, CAMINEX is more than just an annual long-term event – it is a platform for partnerships, idea exchange and sector expansion. It is a meeting place for agriculture, mining, commercial trade, energy, finance and innovation. As we look forward, our commitment remains clear: to build a stronger, inclusive and future-focused economy.
Today, CAMINEX hosts product launches, business networking, technology showcases, investment meetings, knowledge & industry specific seminars, major announcements and international trade engagement, all under one banner.
The change has been met with strong enthusiasm. Exhibitor numbers have grown, international attention has increased, and CAMINEX is now recognised as a more relevant and strategic multi-sector platform for exchange.
In the 2025 edition, Meta Plant & Equipment Zambia successfully launched new machinery during the expo – proof that CAMINEX is not just an exhibition, but an active marketplace.
Copperbelt Energy Corporation (CEC) plc celebrated its milestone of surpassing a US$1 billion market capitalisation on the Lusaka Securities Exchange (LuSE), the ‘ringing of the bell’ ceremony was chosen to be held at CAMINEX and officiated by Hon. Paul Kabuswe, the Minister of Mines and Mineral Development who represented the President at the event, a clear indication of the magnitude & pull of the expo.
This progress is possible because of the giants who stand alongside us: the Government of the Republic of Zambia (through the Ministry of Mines and Mineral Development; the Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry; the Ministry of Agriculture; the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock; the Ministry of Infrastructure; the Ministry of SMEs; the Ministry of Technology & Science; the Ministry of Green Economy & Environment), the Zambia Chamber of Mines, the Kitwe & District Chamber of Commerce & Industry and the people of the Copperbelt Province & beyond representing various sectors that visit the expo.
