A mission to convince major global consumers of Congolese cobalt
The missions of the Minister of Mines Professor Willy KITOBO SAMSONI in the world and in the provinces with the objective of convincing the large world consumers of Congolese Cobalt to work with the Government of his country to make the artisanal production of responsible Cobalt ended up paying off and give credibility to the efforts of the DRC in improving working conditions for artisanal mining activities.
Indeed, it is since the last Davos conference in Switzerland where he was received by the members of GBA, his mission in Geneva in Switzerland received by DCAF members of GBA and the meetings of 23 and 24 November 2020 at Lualaba in Kolwezi with the Technical and Financial Partners that the Minister of Mines exchanged at length with his partners on the government policy carried out with the aim of strengthening the regulation of artisanal mining activities for strategic mineral substances such as cobalt and coltan and the decision to create the ‘ARECOMS Strategic Mineral Substance Market Regulation and Control Authority, a structure of the Ministry responsible for cleaning up the mining industry of substances declared strategic and issuing certificates of conformity of mining products extracted for good traceability. These initiatives have been appreciated by GBA / CAP as they go in the direction of their objectives of making the world production of cobalt responsible. Today, the Minister of Mines, Professor KITOBO SAMSONI, joins the steering committee of the Cobalt Action Partnership CAP to walk together in this fight to clean up the supply chains responsible for Cobalt, an important metal for the green batteries of tomorrow.
