Glencore Sets October 14 Date for Australian Market Debut

Glencore to Begin Trading on ASX on October 14 as Company Targets Australian Investors

Glencore is set to begin trading on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) on October 14, following approval for its secondary listing.

The mining and commodities group said it had satisfied all substantive requirements to join the ASX as a foreign exempt listing. Its CHESS Depositary Interests (CDIs) will trade under the ticker GLC, with each CDI representing one Glencore ordinary share.

The listing will not involve a capital raising or the issuance of new shares. Glencore said the move would broaden its shareholder base, improve trading liquidity and strengthen its presence in Australia, one of its key operating markets.

The Australian listing also comes as Glencore seeks to expand its copper business. The company is looking to tap Australia’s large pool of institutional capital as it pursues growth opportunities in copper and other commodities.

Glencore said investors had shown strong interest in an Australian presence, particularly following its earlier discussions with Rio Tinto over a potential combination.

UK and South African shareholders can request the conversion of their ordinary shares into Australian-listed CDIs ahead of the October debut.

The ASX listing will give Australian investors direct access to Glencore through the local market while providing the company with a broader base of potential investors.
