DRC: MIBA produced 40,000 carats of diamonds from September 2020 to January 2021
The Principal Advisor to the Head of State, Abbot Théo Tshilumba Kabeya, told the ACP that the production of the Bakwanga Mining Company (MIBA), a state portfolio company based in Mbuji-Mayi, -location of the province of Kasai Oriental, amounts for the period from September 2020 to these days, to more than 40,000 (forty thousand) carats of diamonds.
He said so after his meeting with the provincial governor, Jean Maweja, at the end of his working stay in the said province.
“This performance is the result of a financial endowment of around 5,000,000 (five million) USD from the government received by MIBA last September, with a view to relaunching its activities,” said Mr. Tshilumba.
The provincial governor expressed his satisfaction with regard to this mission which, according to him, contributes to the well-being and expectations of his citizens.
During his mission in Kasai Oriental, the advisor to the President of the Republic and the provincial authority laid the foundation stone for the construction work of a modern city, an extension of the city of Kena Nkuna, capital of the territory of Kabeya Kamwanga.
With members of the senior management of MIBA at the company’s headquarters, Senior Advisor Tshilumba discussed with his interlocutors the issue relating to the claim of this company, valued at 40,000,000 (forty million) USD that the MIBA expects the government to acquire its working tool.
In this regard, Théo Tshilumba promised to make the plea to whom it may concern, especially since, he said, the situation of the Bakwanga Mining remains worrying.
