Starting May 1st, 2023, low-income households consuming 100 units or less per month will benefit from a reduction in electricity tariffs, according to the Energy Regulation Board (ERB). Previously, these households would pay K47 for 100 units, but with this new adjustment, their expenditure will decrease to K40. According to the report published by the Initiative for Transparency in the Extractive Industries of the Democratic Republic of Congo (ITIE-DRC), the Congolese Government owes GECAMINES a sum of 61 million USD in debt.
