Anglo American South Africa has noted a class action lawsuit filed against it by Mbuyisa Moleele Attorneys and Leigh Day in the Gauteng High Court, related to lead poisoning claims stemming from the Kabwe mine, in Zambia. The lawyers filed the lawsuit on behalf of a class estimated to comprise more than 100 000 individuals in the Kabwe district of Zambia. Zambia Launches a Gold Mining Strategy

The Zambian government has launched the export diversification strategy for gold and gemstone to formalise artisanal small-scale mining and trading activities. This is envisaged to generate revenue from precious metals. THE Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) truck drivers association has raised concern over the security situation in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). On Thursday, a tailing dam at Rongxing Investment Limited collapsed, spilling suspected acidic content into the Luela stream in Chambishi. Fitch Ratings has assigned Canada-based First Quantum Minerals Ltd’s (FQM; B-/Stable) new 6.875% USD1.5 billion notes due 2027 a final senior unsecured rating of ‘B-‘. The Recovery Rating is ‘RR4’.
