Police in Mwinilunga District in North Western Province have arrested Seven people who were found in possession of Six bags of Gold ore samples, weighing 220 Kgs. Zambia Renown Copper Miner Fights $132 Million Electricity Bill

Vedanta Resources Ltd.’s Zambian entity in preliminary liquidation is struggling to keep the lights on after a power company has threatened to cut supply on a $ 132 million bill, according to court records. Zambia’s largest single electricity consumer, Konkola Copper Mines Plc, received an injunction from the High Court on May 13, Copperbelt Energy Corp. prevented it from containing its electricity. Despite assurance to the Zambian government that all jobs will be secured, Glencore’s Mopani Copper Mines has gone ahead and terminated contracts of some contractors in Kitwe and Mufulira mines, this is according to the National Union for Miners and Allied Workers (NUMAW).The developments have prompted the Ministry of Mines and Mineral Development to take action. The EU donates Gold mining equipment to Zambia’s artisanal miners

The Zambian government received gold mining equipment financed by the European Union (EU) on Thursday to improve gold mining. Zambia Consolidated Copper Mines Investment Holdings (ZCCM-IH) will administer the equipment, that includes four lockers, four gold detectors, 12 turntables, and two gold mine shaker tables to be used in southern Vubwi and Lundazi districts.
