  Satellite communications services multinational Inmarsat’s research shows that 65% of mining organisations have fully deployed at least one Internet of Things- (IoT-) enabled project across their mine sites. It adds that the mining sector is in the midst of an IoT revolution. “The global mining sector is undergoing an IoT revolution, with respondents reporting significant increases in the adoption of connected technologies. Production of so-called battery metals, such as graphite, lithium and cobalt, will have to increase by nearly 500% by 2050 to meet the growing demand for clean energy technologies, the World Bank said on Monday. Caterpillar is hitting a significant milestone in autonomous haulage—achieving 2 billion tonnes hauled using Cat MineStar Command for hauling. German heavy machinery manufacturer GHH has released its newest dump truck model, the MK-45 The machine features a 45-tonne payload, a dump volume of 19-24m3, an improved dumping angle of 68° and good ergonomics. GHH said it is not only one of the largest units of its kind, but it is also the newest model in its product range.
