Mining giant BHP has confirmed that it will not proceed with a firm offer to acquire Anglo American, following the rejection of its £39 billion takeover proposal. First Quantum Minerals Ltd. says it remains committed to Panama and its flagship mine, even as the company follows orders from the government to indefinitely shutter the $10 billion operation.
