DRC Gold Trading Expands National Footprint with Planned North Ubangi Branch
DRC Gold Trading Plans North Ubangi Expansion to Strengthen Artisanal Gold Supply Network
DRC Gold Trading S.A. plans to establish a new branch in North Ubangi Province as part of its strategy to expand its network for the collection, trading and export of artisanal gold.
The company’s Chief Executive Officer, Joseph Kazibaziba Maombi, said North Ubangi is among the next locations targeted for expansion, although no opening date has been announced.
The planned branch follows the company’s recent efforts to strengthen its presence across the Democratic Republic of Congo.
DRC Gold Trading has already expanded its operations to Lubumbashi, Haut-Katanga Province, and has announced plans to open another branch in Kinshasa.
The company aims to increase its role in the formalisation of the artisanal gold sector, with a target of collecting between 15 and 18 tonnes of artisanal gold and generating more than $2 billion in revenue in 2026.
Official figures show that the DRC recorded 2.3 tonnes of artisanal gold production in 2025, with North Ubangi contributing a relatively small share.
However, the province is considered to have significant mining potential, with gold exploration activities and geological studies pointing to possible untapped resources.
Through its expansion strategy, DRC Gold Trading aims to improve access to formal gold markets, strengthen supply chains and increase the participation of artisanal producers in the regulated mining sector.
