Jubilee Metals Restarts Copper Deliveries as Molefe Mine Expansion Accelerates Zambia Growth Strategy
Jubilee Metals Boosts Zambia Copper Output with Restart of Sable Refinery Deliveries from Expanded Molefe Mine
Aim-listed Jubilee Metals has resumed run-of-mine (RoM) copper deliveries to its Sable refinery in Zambia, following the restart of processing operations supported by the successful expansion of Molefe mine’s Pit 2.
The development forms part of the company’s updated mine plan, which integrates Pits 2 and 3 into a single, larger operational area.
According to the company, refining activities at the Sable facility have restarted in parallel with increased mining output, marking a key milestone in the expansion of its copper strategy in Zambia.
Key Milestone for Integrated Copper Strategy
Jubilee Metals CEO Leon Coetzer described the restart of RoM deliveries from Molefe mine as a significant step in the company’s broader growth plan.
He said the progress at Molefe reflects the effectiveness of the updated mine design and supports the company’s ambition to scale up its integrated mine-to-metals operations.
Molefe mine is the first implementation of Jubilee’s scalable “hub-and-spoke” strategy in Zambia, which combines mining, processing, and ongoing exploration within a single integrated model.
Expanding Production Through Integrated Operations
The company’s Pillar 2 strategy focuses on integrating mining operations with the Sable refinery while simultaneously expanding resource development. The approach is designed to allow production growth while continuously identifying new copper opportunities in the region.
Following the integration of Pits 2 and 3, combined mined ore output is expected to reach approximately 60,000 tonnes per quarter, with an average stripping ratio of 6:1.
Rising Delivery Targets to Sable Refinery
Deliveries of run-of-mine material to the Sable refinery are set to increase significantly over the coming months.
Output is expected to rise to 6,000 tonnes per month in June, increase to 8,500 tonnes per month by August, and reach 10,000 tonnes per month by October.
This represents more than a 100% increase in monthly feed volumes to the refinery, supporting higher processing throughput and improved operational efficiency.
The next stage of development at Molefe mine will focus on the introduction of on-site ore sorting technology and enhanced processing capabilities. These upgrades are intended to improve ore grade segregation, increase copper recovery rates, and strengthen overall project economics.
At the same time, Jubilee Metals is expanding its resource definition drilling programme across the broader Molefe district and surrounding exploration areas.
The company expects to publish a Joint Ore Reserves Committee (JORC)-compliant resource estimate following completion of its Phase 2 drilling programme, currently targeted for the fourth quarter of the year, subject to assay results.
Building a Scalable Copper Growth Model
Coetzer said Molefe mine is evolving into a core asset within Jubilee’s integrated copper platform and is expected to deliver a significant production increase in the coming months.
He added that the combination of pit integration, pre-stripping work, and future ore sorting capacity positions the mine for sustained growth while improving flexibility in feed supply to the Sable refinery.
Jubilee Metals believes its integrated model combining mining, processing, and exploration creates a scalable framework that can be replicated across other copper assets in Zambia and the wider region.
The company’s long-term strategy is to simultaneously expand production and resource base, reinforcing its position in the regional copper value chain.
