Port Company Relocates 128 Workers to Lobito Atlantic Railway in Angola
The Lobito Port Company transferred, on Tuesday September 19th, 128 workers to the Lobito Atlantic Railway, as part of the award of the Mining Terminal, included in the Lobito Corridor infrastructure concession contracts to private institutions.
Lobito Atlantic Railway, a subsidiary company of Mota-Engil, Trafigura and Vecturis, guaranteed compliance with all clauses of the contract, so that the 128 workers transferred from the Porto do Lobito sphere to its organic structure have an integration that reflects the goals set by the Board.
During the event, income declarations were signed by the workers, after the company’s Board of Directors and the Union Committee had analyzed some key points of the declaration that allowed a consensus to be reached between the parties involved.
The executive administrator, Cristiano Sobrinho, reassured the transferred workers, highlighting that “joining the Lobito Atlantic Railway (LAR) will bring benefits to all workers and families at the Port of Lobito, so there is no point in worrying, as they will be fulfilled all agreements contained in the Specifications, as well as all your rights are safeguarded”.
Cristiano Sobrinho also stressed that this is “an important moment”, as the document “will allow for better stability and better recognition of workers’ rights before they embrace the new reality”.
The income declaration (DR) aims to safeguard workers’ rights, namely monthly remuneration in the form of salaries and other acquired rights, such as additional remuneration within the company’s policy, with emphasis on the productivity bonus, accident insurance work and occupational illnesses, medical and medication assistance, support and death benefit.
Cristiano Sobrinho praised the commitment of the Union Committee in the process, in his view “decisive for us to have reached this moment, which is the result of fruitful work, the exchange of points of view, the search for acceptable and balanced solutions for both parties and, above all, that benefited workers”.
