BME Appoints Meagan van den Berg as Africa MD to Drive Mining and Blasting Expansion Across the Continent
Blasting and metallurgy solutions provider BME, a subsidiary of the Omnia Group, has appointed Meagan van den Berg as Managing Director for Africa.
In this newly created role, van den Berg will oversee BME’s blasting operations across the African continent (excluding South Africa) and contribute to the company’s global metallurgy initiatives.
Since its founding in South Africa in 1984, BME has established a strong presence across Africa and expanded into international markets, including North America, Indonesia, and Australia.

According to Ralf Hennecke, BME’s Managing Director, the new leadership position reflects the company’s commitment to strategic growth both north of South Africa and globally.
He emphasized that BME will continue leveraging its innovation and secure supply chain to scale operations worldwide.
“We are very pleased to welcome a person of Meagan’s calibre and experience into our executive team,” said Hennecke. “We believe she will bring significant value to our business at this exciting stage of development in Africa and beyond.”
Van den Berg brings 16 years of experience in the mining and explosives industry in Southern Africa.
She began her career as a mining and explosives engineer, later taking on senior management, executive, and board-level roles.
Her leadership spans multiple countries, where she has successfully managed diverse and multicultural teams in highly regulated and fast-changing environments.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand, and a Master of Business Administration from the Gordon Institute of Business Science.
